Ginebra Edges Star in Another Classic Ball Game

Barangay Ginebra edges Star Hotshots in another Manila Clasico ball game, 92-87. Ginebra led 56-48 in the 1st half but it was the Hotshots who outscored Ginebra in the 3rd quarter, 26-10 to take the lead 74-66 going to final canto. Ginebra then started the 4th quarter with 11-3 run to tie the ball game at 77 apiece. Star responded with a 3 straight baskets from Bowles, Pascual and Pingris to take a commanding 6 point lead but Ginebra countered with 8-2 run to tie the ball game at 85 all.
Rafi Reavis sinks a pair of free throws but Greg Slaughter responded with a putback on Tenorio's missed shot. Tenorio then drilled a huge jumper from midrange to take the lead, 89-87 with 28 seconds left.
Bowles tried to tie the game with a missed jumpshot while Greg Slaughter made an and one play to seal the ball game.
Othyus Jeffers led all the scorer with 23 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished 7 assists. Japeth Aguilar added 15 points (all in the 1st half) and added 2 block shots on Bowles in clutch time while Greg Slaughter had a double double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. But was L.A. Tenorio who was named the best player of the game. The "Gineral" finished the game with 12 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds.
Mark Barroca led the Hotshots with 16 points in a losing effort, Denzel Bowles and PJ Simon added 15 and 14 points respectively.
Ginebra is now 2-2 for the conference while the Star Hotshots dropped to 1-4.
