Interview with Former PBA MVP Willie Miller at Red Bull KOTR Tournament
Willie Miller these days is not the same as he was when he was still playing and dominating in the PBA. He had played for different leagues and now at 38 years old he joined the KOTR challange. Willie Miller did good but have to bow down at the finals to Robbie Herndon.
Here is the transcrip of the interview with Willie Miller.
1. How did you find out about KOTR? What made you want to join?
Tournament director Vince Hizon called me. I thought it would be cool to play again.
2. How did you prepare for the competition?
I never stopped playing basketball (even if I’ve officially retired from the PBA). During my active playing days, my teammates and I would start off practice with 1-on-1 plays before the 5-on-5 games.
3. In your opinion, what makes basketball such a natural favorite for Filipinos?
I came from the province… I saw that anywhere you go, Filipinos can make basketball rings out of anything – trees, walls, buckets with bottoms cut out. It’s the easiest sport to play. The competition, though, is what makes basketball fun. When you throw that element in, that’s when you start improving yourself. The passion intensifies and it makes you want to work even harder than the other players.
