Jimmy Paypa and Roberto Gonzales shock opponents both claim titles!
Jimmy"Popeye" Paypa of ALA gym dropped veteran Bernabe Concepcion in 1st round enroute to Split Decision victory to take away the WBO Oriental super bantamweight title from the previous champion Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, Metro Manila. Scores were 114-113, 116-111 for Paypa and 115-112 for Concepcion.
22-year-old Paypa improved his record to 18 Wins w/ 6 KOs 1 Draw and 3 Defeats (18-3-1,6) while two time world title challenger and long time contender dropped to (34-7-2,20)
In the co main event Roberto Gonzales (27-2,17) shocks previously unbeaten Arjan Canillas
(13-1-2,10) to capture the vacant Philippine Game and Amusement Board lightweight title.
Gonzales' 7th round TKO victory over Canillas set him up for a regional title fight for his next fight.
