2016 PBA draft is a very deep and talent laden draft with names of Kiefer Ravena, Mac Belo, Kevin Ferrer, a bunch of fil-foreign players like Matthew Wright and possibly much improved Bobby Ray Parks Jr. joining the draft. With two prized first round picks at their hand, Ginebra would really see themselves shining in the future.Let us examine who should they pick in this year's PBA Draft.
No. 4 (via Phoenix Fuel Masters) - Mac Belo
Small forward, This is the position Ginebra needs to strengthen the most. Chris Ellis had done so much on defensive part but he is still working on his jumpers and his offensive game. Ginebra should pick Mac Belo with this pick if he is still available and make him a starter right away. Belo is one of the players in this draft who are PBA ready. He could help the Kings right away once he joins the team. He is an upgrade of Arwind Santos, a much better shooter and scorer.
ANOTHER OPTION with this pick is KEVIN FERRER
The king tiger is the other option at this pick for the Kings. Ferrer has almost the same game with Mac Belo but Ferrer is the better rebounder. He has the shooting touch in the perimeter and could be the answer for Ginebra's lack of scorer at the wing. Ferrer failed to win a championship in his collegiate days for the tigers losing in the finals to the green archers and tamaraws so he should redeem himself once he step in the PBA.
No. 8 (Ginebra's Original Pick) - Von Pessumal
Ginebra needs to invest on their backcourt position for their future as Jayjay Helterbrand and Mark Caguioa are both nearing retirement. Pessumal is the best option for them at 2 spot as the team are in need of a shooter that would thrive in triangle system. Pessumal has a chance to be a Marcio Lassiter type of player if he could develop his dribbling skills and defense more. A Scottie Thompson - Von Pessumal tandem in the future could be something special for the Kings.
ANOTHER OPTION with this pick is ED DAQUIOAG
Daquioag is not a great three point shooter as he only made 7 out of 41 threes last UAAP season. He is more of a slasher and also a scorer. If he could only develop his three point shooting, Daquioag will be one of the PBA superstars in the future and could be the go-to-guy of the Kings. The former growling tiger has a combination of games of Mark Barroca and Cyrus Baguio. He could be the successor of Mark Caguioa's legacy as a King.
