Warriors vs Cavs: Battle of the Bulge

By: Paolo Manuel Fule

There is something special when a team wins 73 games in an NBA regular season. Much more, when that team has a history-making unanimous MVP, two players who won NBA All-Star three-point shooting contest in consecutive years, made history as the team with the best start in NBA history with 24-0 and lastly, only the tenth team to overcome a 1-3 hole in a best-of-seven series. They are the 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors.

There is also something special when a team has a 4-time MVP, has been 12-2 in the playoffs, shot 25 three’s in a single game in the playoffs, number 1 team in the Eastern Conference and has been hungry for a single championship in all of sports for their city. They are the 2015-2016 Cleveland Cavaliers.

Here is the stats comparison in Warriors and Cavaliers starting lineup in this year’s playoffs:
Stephen Curry- 26.7 PPG, 6.1 APG, Klay Thompson- 26.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG, Andre Iguodala- 8.8 PPG, 3.6 RPG, Draymond Green- 15.1 PPG, 9.8 RPG, and Andrew Bogut 5.0 PPG, 6.5 RPG.
Lebron James- 24.6 PPG, 8.6 RPG, Kyrie Irving- 24.3 PPG, 5.1 APG, Kevin Love- 17.3 PPG, 9.6 RPG, Tristan Thompson- 4.9 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and J.R. Smith- 12 PPG, 3.4 RPG.

Both teams have advantages when it comes to their starters, and has been motivated at the highest level now at the biggest stage of their competition. It is a series that has a lot of everything that makes it so compelling to watch.

Whichever team wins this year's NBA Finals, both already have proven their worth in the annals of the sports. Though both are motivated in their own right, I really feel for LeBron James. He waited for 9 years to give Cleveland another chance for its first championship in pro sports. If there is any better time, I think it is now. On the other hand, 73-9 and last year's championship will be a fluke if the Dubs will lose this Finals. Yes, this is a rematch, but now it will be more than what happened last year. A classic best-of-seven series for the ages.

Here are some basketball fans who predict their winner in this NBA Finals:

I like the Golden State Warriors to win. They have two of the most lethal outside shooters of this generation. – Edrenz Cabello, The Plaridelians Sports Writer

Gsw has done the impossible in the regular season with 73 wins, no doubt they can claim their second championship. – James Jimcent Gonzales, basketball enthusiast

I want the Cleveland Cavaliers to win their first championship. It will be a great legacy for LeBron James. – Dyrham Palfrey, NBA enthusiast, National University athlete

Cavs will win this finals. The Big 3 are healthy and LeBron has been motivated to finally win a ring for Ohio—Paco Rabat, NBA enthusiast, College of St.
