"I'm Here to Dominate": Ryan Daye on His WBC Australasia Title Shot

This Friday, DragonFire Promotions returns to Perth City for Thunderdome 47, featuring a headline bout that has boxing fans buzzing. Undefeated rising star Ryan Daye will face the formidable Fano Kori for the WBC Silver Australasian Super Welterweight title.

Daye, speaking ahead of what is set to be the biggest fight of his career, expressed his excitement and readiness.

"I’m feeling super excited," Daye shared. "I’m confident, I’m ready, I’ve done my preparation, and now it’s just a countdown. I’m ready to go."

Despite having only four professional fights under his belt, Daye has earned a shot at the prestigious WBC title. A win on Friday would further elevate his standing in the boxing world, and he views the title as both a challenge and a testament to his hard work.

"[The belt] definitely puts a lot of skin in the game for me," Daye said. "That’s half the reason why I’ve pushed myself so hard during this camp. I want to win that belt and bring it home. It reflects the dedication and effort I’ve put into the sport."

Daye is clear about his intentions: he’s not in the ring just for the experience. "I’m not boxing just to participate; I’m here to dominate," he stated. "I’m super excited and grateful for the opportunity through Tony [Tolj] and DragonFire Boxing. I’m ready to get what’s mine."

However, standing in Daye’s path is Fano Kori, a seasoned fighter who has faced some of Australia’s best, including Ben Mahoney and Keon Mazoudier. Daye is familiar with Kori’s style, having watched him take on his teammate Jordan LaRuccia last year.

"I know it’s going to be a hard fight," Daye acknowledged. "He’s durable, well-respected, and he’s got the experience. I’m ready for the eight rounds, and I’ll adapt to whatever he brings on the night."

Though focused on the upcoming challenge, Daye is already looking ahead, eager to stay active in the ring.

"I want to get through this fight first, and then we’ll see what opportunities arise," Daye explained. "For 2025, I want to stay busy. I’ll definitely fight again before the end of this year, and next year, I plan to keep the momentum going."

Ryan Daye faces Fano Kori at the Metro City Night Club on August 23rd, in what promises to be a thrilling bout for the WBC Silver Australasian Super Welterweight title
