BoxingScene.com has been informed that Puerto Rico Best Boxing, along with Top Rank, are working to finalize a televised doubleheader in Puerto Rico for July 10. The main event would feature Juan Manuel Lopez defending his WBO featherweight title against Filipino Bernabe Concepcion, who earned the shot with his February decision over Mario Santiago.
I've heard Ivan Rivera, president of Puerto Rico Best Boxing, reached out to Top Rank with heavy interest in putting together a fight between WBO-interim bantamweight champion Eric Morel and the WBO's super flyweight champion Jorge Arce.
If Rivera has his way, he would like to have Morel-Arce as the co-feature to Lopez-Concepcion. A lot of factors involved in making that move happen. A co-feature slot would really depend on which network is going to carry Lopez-Concepcion. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is open to bringing the card to Showtime, who are more likely than HBO to pick up a fight like Morel-Arce. It also depends on the outcome of Arce's next fight. He is scheduled to headline a "Top Rank Live" event on Fox Sports on April 24.
