Adones Cabalquinto suffered his first defeat via knockout in the first round against Al Rivera
Yesterday, November 13 was one of the days where I saved some money for a sports event. Tibay ng Pinoy 11 is a boxing event that should have been worth something but instead it was a free show courtesy of Manny Pacquiao's promotion.
According to the experts I spoke with, Tibay ng Pinoy fight card was packed with good boxers that I probably haven't heard of and these names could potentially be the next stars in Philippine boxing.
The event wasn't as jam packed as I expected it to be, being that it is already for free. Nonetheless, our Armed Forces showed up in platoons to watch the rare boxing event held inside the Phil. Naval Station Gym at the Fort Bonifacio in Taguig.

Although it started late, the event was worth the wait as match after match fans were delighted by the skillful showing of the boxers. We have seen some exciting highlights including knockdowns and some funny moments. The eye-candies of the night were the 2 beautiful ring girls who, even if only showed up at the last 3 fights of the event, gave the showgoers pleasurable entertainment.
Two fights worth noting are the fights between undefeated Adones Cabalquinto vs Machine gun, Al Rivera and the main event between Palacite vs Silvano.

Adones Cabalquinto vs Machine gun, Al Rivera. No peeling out stage for the two fighters as they both started guns blazing and from that moment I knew that this fight would be action-packed. I was thinking that this fight could end up in a knockout and indeed it did, as the favored Adones Cabalquinto got caught hard by the Machine Gun. He tried to stand up but the shot was solid, forcing the referee to rule it as a knockout in Round 1. Adones is now a 21 win and 1 loss, while Al Rivera improved to 14 wins and 2 losses making him revel in his 4-fight winning streak.

For the main event, Aston Palicite aka Diego Corales won via unanimous decision against Vergilio Silvano. I thought this one would be over early as Silvano was down twice in the early rounds. He also appeared to have lost a lot of air. After an early barrage of body punching from Palacite, Silvano looked as if he could go down anytime soon but that did not happen as the former champion showed resilience and even at some point on the match showed that he still got what it takes to win. Unfortunately, he was not a match to the well prepared Aston Palacite who showed some glimpse of power and a some wicked boxing skills as he slowly picked apart his opponents, winning most of the rounds.
