MMA fans will always remember Rory 'The Red King' MacDonald for his Welterweight Championship bout with Robbie Lawler at UFC 189: vs. Mendes McGregor in July 2015. It is one of the greatest, bloodiest and most brutal UFC fights in my book.
The last fight on Rory's Zuffa contract was the recently UFC Fight Night 89: MacDonald vs. Thompson. He lost the fight to 'Wonder Boy' by unanimous decision. As the no. 2 welterweight enters the free agency, MacDonald is reportedly communicating with Bellator and ONE Championship.
Chamatkar Sandhu (@SandhuMMA) an MMA Junkie, USA Today, and Flo Combat Fighters Only reporter posted on July 14, 2016 via twitter that, "Bellator President Scott Coker told me they have begun a line of communication with Rory MacDonald in the hopes of signing the free agent."
Day after that Bellator report by Chamatkar Sandhu, Flo Combat's Jim Edwards stated that ONE Championship is in talks with Rory MacDonald.
Will UFC be able to retain one of their greatest talents? Or MacDonald will jump on Bellator or ONE FC to join former UFC fighters like Phil Davis, Benson Henderson, Matt Mitrione and Brandon Vera?
