Dennis Schroder to the Warriors: A Freebie, So Stop Whining, Warriors Fans

Powcast Report | Dennis Schroder to the Warriors: A Freebie, So Stop Whining, Warriors Fans

With the acquisition of Dennis Schroder, the Golden State Warriors have added another scoring guard to help ease the offensive load. But is this really what they needed? It seems like Steve Kerr and the Warriorsโ€™ management either missed the memo or are actively ignoring the NBAโ€™s latest trendโ€”building tall, versatile teams that can all shoot threes.

Fans have been clamoring for the Warriors to address their glaring need for a big man, preferably a stretch big, to keep up with the leagueโ€™s best teams. Draymond Greenโ€™s prime years are behind him, and letโ€™s be honestโ€”the current bigs on the roster? Theyโ€™re not that big and have a limited arsenal. This makes the Warriors not only undersized but also predictable.

Donโ€™t get me wrongโ€”I love Steph Curry. Who doesnโ€™t, right? But letโ€™s face it: the Warriorsโ€™ offense has become as predictable as the weatherโ€”sometimes it rains buckets, and other times itโ€™s bone dry. The inconsistency is frustrating to watch.

Remember when we thought the Warriors found the perfect running mate for Curry to fill the void left by Klay Thompson? Yeah, maybe we spoke too soon. Now, instead of addressing their need for size, the Warriors have added yet another guard to a roster already bursting at the seams with backcourt talent.

Do I hate the move? Not at all. Itโ€™s actually a pretty good deal, considering the Warriors only gave up an injured Dโ€™Anthony Melton and three second-round picks. On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets... well, theyโ€™re just doing what the Nets do bestโ€”making moves that leave us scratching our heads.

Now, letโ€™s take a step back. Sure, Warriors fans wanted size, but the team remains stubbornly committed to their small-ball philosophy. And you canโ€™t argue with the resultsโ€”at the time of this writing, the Warriors sit comfortably in 7th place in the West, firmly in playoff contention. Meanwhile, those "really tall teams" everyone admires are still at the bottom, looking up. (See what I did there?)

So, Warriors fans, stop whining. Dennis Schroder is a freebie, and a darn good one at that. Letโ€™s see how this pans out. In the meantime, enjoy the show.

Danke, Dennis. Pow!
