Powcast Report | Dennis Schroder to the Warriors: A Freebie, So Stop Whining, Warriors Fans
With the acquisition of Dennis Schroder, the Golden State Warriors have added another scoring guard to help ease the offensive load. But is this really what they needed? It seems like Steve Kerr and the Warriorsโ management either missed the memo or are actively ignoring the NBAโs latest trendโbuilding tall, versatile teams that can all shoot threes.
Fans have been clamoring for the Warriors to address their glaring need for a big man, preferably a stretch big, to keep up with the leagueโs best teams. Draymond Greenโs prime years are behind him, and letโs be honestโthe current bigs on the roster? Theyโre not that big and have a limited arsenal. This makes the Warriors not only undersized but also predictable.
Donโt get me wrongโI love Steph Curry. Who doesnโt, right? But letโs face it: the Warriorsโ offense has become as predictable as the weatherโsometimes it rains buckets, and other times itโs bone dry. The inconsistency is frustrating to watch.
Remember when we thought the Warriors found the perfect running mate for Curry to fill the void left by Klay Thompson? Yeah, maybe we spoke too soon. Now, instead of addressing their need for size, the Warriors have added yet another guard to a roster already bursting at the seams with backcourt talent.
Do I hate the move? Not at all. Itโs actually a pretty good deal, considering the Warriors only gave up an injured DโAnthony Melton and three second-round picks. On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets... well, theyโre just doing what the Nets do bestโmaking moves that leave us scratching our heads.
Now, letโs take a step back. Sure, Warriors fans wanted size, but the team remains stubbornly committed to their small-ball philosophy. And you canโt argue with the resultsโat the time of this writing, the Warriors sit comfortably in 7th place in the West, firmly in playoff contention. Meanwhile, those "really tall teams" everyone admires are still at the bottom, looking up. (See what I did there?)
So, Warriors fans, stop whining. Dennis Schroder is a freebie, and a darn good one at that. Letโs see how this pans out. In the meantime, enjoy the show.
Danke, Dennis. Pow!
