For years, the local MMA scene in the Philippines has struggled to thrive, largely due to financial challenges. However, the lack of events hasn't dampened the drive of ambitious Filipino MMA fighters eager to showcase their skills. Filipinos are natural-born warriors, with hundreds of gyms across the country and fighters hungry for opportunities to make their mark. Sadly, many remain stagnant, waiting for a chance to turn their passion into a career. That’s where a new hope comes in.

Meet Joevincent So: The Fighter-Turned-Entrepreneur

Joevincent So isn’t just your average fighter. I first met him when he was dominating the local MMA scene, collecting belts left and right. From Underground Battle MMA to Domination Fight League and Warriors Fight Promotions, Joevincent proved he was a force to be reckoned with. His success in the Philippines opened doors for him to compete internationally at high-profile promotions like UAE Warriors and Brave Combat Federation. Though victories eluded him on foreign soil, Joevincent discovered something even more valuable: a purpose.

At a young age, Joevincent realized the harsh realities of competing abroad and the lack of opportunities for Filipino fighters to break into the international MMA scene. Leveraging his connections and experiences, he decided to take a different path—to help his fellow Filipino fighters achieve their dreams.

"The fighter pay here in the Philippines doesn’t compare to what fighters earn abroad, especially in regions like the Middle East, where MMA is booming. My goal is to create a platform where Filipino fighters can improve their records and earn the chance to fight for better opportunities internationally,” says Joevincent.

PCC Philippine Combat Championship: A New Platform for Filipino Fighters

In my recent one-on-one conversation with Joevincent, he shared his vision for his newly established promotion, PCC. The mission is simple: provide Filipino fighters with a stage to shine, build their careers, and prepare them for the global MMA spotlight.

“The goal of this promotion is to create opportunities for Filipino MMA fighters to showcase their talent on the international stage. Using this platform, their fights will be officially recorded on Tapology. After gaining solid wins and building their records, these fighters will have a chance to show the world what they’re made of. We aim to create the next Filipino MMA superstar.” – Joevincent So

PCC’s inaugural event is set to take place on February 1, 2025, at the International Baptist College (IBC Mandaluyong College). Fight fans are in for a treat because admission is FREE, making this an exciting opportunity to witness the birth of a new era in Philippine MMA. The fight card will feature 8 action-packed bouts, including promising amateurs and seasoned veterans eager to break through the local scene.
