Naoya Inoue after his fight with Ye Joon Kim |
As expected, Naoya Inoue made quick work of South Korean challenger Ye Joon Kim, ending the fight in just four rounds. The outcome was no surprise—fans knew it was only a question of when. Like many of Inoue’s previous opponents, Kim was simply outclassed, outworked, and outspeed. Although Kim showed heart and managed to land a few punches, they posed no real threat to "The Monster."
Inoue started the fight at a relaxed pace, gradually increasing his output as the rounds progressed. There were reports that Inoue intended to extend the fight to entertain the fans, but Kim had a different approach. In the fourth round, Kim boldly taunted Inoue to come forward, and the Japanese superstar responded with a brutal right straight that dropped Kim to the canvas. The referee didn’t even bother with a count—it was clear from the start that the fight was a mismatch.
With this victory, Naoya Inoue improves his record to 29 wins, including 26 knockouts. While his next opponent is yet to be confirmed, possible names include Sam Goodman, Akhmadaliev, and other mandatories. A fight in the U.S. could also be in the cards. However, many fans are urging Inoue to move up in weight to face tougher challenges, as he has already dominated the super bantamweight division by unifying all the belts.
