DISASTER for Daniel Dubois! Forced to Withdraw – Joseph Parker Now Faces “The Most Avoided Heavyweight”

In a significant shake-up just days before the highly anticipated boxing event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois has withdrawn from his title defense against Joseph Parker due to illness. Dubois, 27, was deemed medically unfit to compete after being examined by doctors in Riyadh.

Stepping in on short notice is Congolese heavyweight Martin Bakole. Known for his formidable power and resilience, the 31-year-old Bakole has amassed a professional record of 21 wins and one loss. Despite being on holiday in his native Congo, Bakole accepted the challenge and is en route to Riyadh, covering nearly 3,000 miles to seize this unexpected opportunity.

This bout will now serve as the co-main event on the undercard of the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol rematch, scheduled for Saturday, February 22, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. The main event is set to begin at 11 pm UK time, with the undercard starting at 3:30 pm UK time.

Dubois' promoter, Frank Warren, expressed his disappointment over the development, stating: "Unfortunately, Daniel is unwell, and when we have more news, we will update you."

Joseph Parker, 33, who boasts a record of 35 wins and three losses, was originally aiming to become a two-time world champion. Despite the change in opponent and the non-title nature of the upcoming fight, Parker remains focused and ready to showcase his skills.

The alteration in the fight card has been met with mixed reactions. While some fans are disappointed by Dubois' withdrawal, others are intrigued by the unexpected matchup between Parker and Bakole. This change adds a new layer of excitement to an event already touted as potentially "the greatest boxing card ever."

As the boxing world adjusts to this last-minute change, all eyes will be on Riyadh this Saturday to witness how these developments unfold in the ring.
